Located in the high desert, Colorado Springs was originally the home to the Ute, Arapahoe, and Cheyenne Indians. There are historical touches all over the city that was colonized officially for the first time in 1859. There was an influx of people to the area during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush increasing the population considerably. With such a desirable atmosphere, most people stayed even after it was over.

The famous inventor Nikola Tesla even set up his lab on Knob Hill. His lab was eventually torn down and sold for pieces to pay the debt he owned to The Springs, the original location can still be visited.

For the sports buff headed into the city who might not be that excited about the great outdoors, there are multiple sports teams to see. As for professional teams, there is soccer, baseball, rugby, and cricket teams. College teams are abundant in The Springs too. With the United States Air Force Academy based there, as well as Colorado College, you can watch Division I football, basketball, hockey, and soccer. Even rodeo can be enjoyed in city limits, the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame is located there.

With two major interstates running east/west and north/south through the city and numerous state highways cutting paths between it, it is a relatively easy city to navigate. While the bus system needs expansion, it does run during peak times to major locations assisting tourists. The city has it's own airport, the Colorado Municipal Airport. While it's not an international airport, connecting flights to Denver occur daily and travel to and from anywhere in the world is an easy task.
